Hi there! My name's Teri, and welcome to my new lil blog. I'm the owner of a super awesome yarn store in Prince George BC called Darling Deviance Wool Shop & Gifts, and I tell you - it's my dream job! I mean really, what yarny wouldn't want to be around squishy goodness all day, talking to others about knitting and crochet, and creating things? Here I'll be sharing what's on my needles and hooks, cute patterns I stumble upon, how to videos, and hopefully some inspiration 😉
How did this all start? Well, I used to have an office job like many people. It was stressful at times, but I did enjoy it. There was travel for meetings, long days and also great friendships. For ten years I was living a bit of a corporate life - answering emails on my Blackberry at odd hours, bringing my laptop home to get extra work done, etc. I loved it. But life changed, as it always does. A little one was on the way, and once he was in my arms I knew that nothing would ever be the same. As he grew, I became anxious. How could I leave him and go back to work? How could I travel with a little guy at home, who's dad worked all the time too? Nope, couldn't do it. So, I set to work figuring out the course of my future.
As an avid knitter and crocheter, I'd been selling my handmade items at craft sales and on Etsy and Facebook for a few years with great success. Now I knew that I'd have to make a heck of a lot of pieces to bring in a decent income, so how could I pair my love of yarn with a "job"? I took the plunge. I found a retail space to rent, and opened Darling Deviance!
Anyway, I hope you enjoy my shenanigans. Looking at the amount of projects I have on the go, some people may say I have ADHD for yarnys, but oh well.
